We’re Joey and Sarah Ettlin—together since 2014, married since 2025. We travel because the world is too wonderful to experience only from the comfort of our couch.

We love everything about it. The way a country tastes—the octopus on a Cretan harbor wall, a pastel de nata that’s still warm, a breakfast in Reykjavík consisting of three kinds of bread and four kinds of silence. The animals you encounter on a trail—howler monkeys that sound like old men, whales off a coast no one expected, a hedgehog on a Scottish wall.

We want culture and nature, both, always. A gallery in Lisbon and, on the same day, the wind from the Atlantic. A volcano in Iceland and, in the evening, a pub with seventy-five gins. We love adventures, both big and small—the moment when the trail marker disappears, or when the bus hasn’t come for two hours and you end up being glad about it.

Why this blog?
